Have you noticed you sleep or feel better while on a beach vacation after walking in the sand or swimming in the ocean? Wonder why? Here is one reason to think about and how to achieve the same effect even when you are not on vacation.
What is grounding?
Grounding, also known as earthing, is putting the body in direct contact with the earth. Getting direct and uninterrupted skin contact to soil, grass, rock, sand, water or a conductive surface that is in contact with the earth.
How it works?
Our bodies work through harmonious and synchronized electrical transmissions. When the body no longer works in sync the body becomes disconnected. Our modern lifestyles have altered the body’s natural circadian rhythm and as a result we are seeing a disconnect and rise of inflammatory and chronic conditions. Our paleolithic ancestors walked barefoot, and slept outdoors and nourished with foods they could hunt and gather. Unlike our ancestors, most of us have not touched our bodies to the ground in years. We live indoors, wear rubber soled shoes, and are constantly surrounded by EMFs from common daily appliances that build positive charge in our bodies. This positive charge throws an imbalance to the bioelectricity of the body. This is where grounding matters. The earth is like a battery, being recharged with negatively charged electrons by sunlight, lightning and the earth’s core. Grounding transfers the negatively charged electrons into the positively charged body creating a neutral environment allowing the body to work harmoniously once again.
Case studies performed By Dr. William Amalu, International Academy of Clinical Thermography, studied the effects of grounding and used thermography as an objective assessment for inflammatory and neurophysiology conditions. In his studies he showed grounding made significant changes in heat patterns from pre and post assessments.

How to get Supercharged?
While the cheapest and easiest way to get grounded is to walk outdoors barefoot in grass, rock, soil or water. There are other ways to get grounded indoors. An earthing mat can be used under feet while using a computer at work or earthing sheet can be used while sleeping. Eating fresh, local and organic fruits and vegetables also provides the body with the negative electrons in conjunction with grounding.
